There are past research studies that have taken advantage of people. This happens especially to those from communities not represented well in research. It makes sense to be unsure if you want to be part of a research project. Our study team, which includes people from these communities, understands feelings of mistrust. We know that many people have been left out of research or have not been given equal benefits from research findings, and we want to change that. The research team is committed to finding out how to slow and stop suffering due to Alzheimer's in all communities. Our study staff are committed to treating every person fairly and with respect.
We have a special support team here to help you if you choose to join the ADNI study and they can answer any questions that may come up. If at any time you do not want to perform any of the tasks, you may do so for any reason. We value the involvement of those in the study and will keep the information you give stored safely to maintain your privacy. Please do not delay in contacting the study staff at1-888-299-ADNI (2364) or info@adni4.org with any questions you may have.
