What are the risks of giving a blood sample?

There are minimal risks for participating in the ADNI Blood Biomarker study. Risks include things like pain, bruising, and bleeding at the spot where your blood is drawn, but this is temporary. Some people may experience fainting or dizziness, and there is also a slight risk of infection at the site of the needle stick. To minimize these risks, experienced medical personnel will conduct all the blood drawing procedures and sterile conditions will be maintained. There is also a risk of loss of confidentiality. The ADNI study team is taking extra precautions to protect your information.
